Whistleblower to Petition Ministry of Internal Affairs to Investigate Indian National Yogesh Yadav over alleged Human Trafficking

A concerned Ugandan citizen is petitioning the Ministry of Internal Affairs through its Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control, demanding deportation of an Indian businessman Yogesh Yadav accusing him of reportedly turning fifteen (15) girls he brought from Nepal to Uganda into sexual exploitation.

The petitioner also wants the Ministry of Internal Affairs which is responsible for the legal and orderly movement of persons to and from Uganda, regulate the residence of immigrants in the country, verify and process Uganda citizenship and enforce national and regional immigration laws for the development and security of Uganda, to probe how Yogesh lived in Uganda in the first three years without proper documentation.

The petitioned seen by this publication is titled; ‘’RE: PETITION FOR HUMAN TRAFFICKING AT THE SAUNA FACILITY LOCATED AT MUYENGA ZIMMWE ROAD, KAMPALA’’, and copied to the National Coordination Office for Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Uganda (COPTIP) , The Coalition Against Trafficking in Person Uganda (UCATIP), the Resident City Commissioners (RCC) Makindye.

‘’I am a concerned citizen of Uganda and wish to report the following matters in good faith pursuant to The Whistleblowers Protection Act, 2010 and Article 225 of the Constitution of Uganda. YOGESH YADAV an Indian national and business man living in Uganda who initially stayed without proper documentation’’, reads in part the petition.

It adds that; ‘’He started up a business of Sauna and Steam bath at Muyenga along Zimmwa Road in Kampala where through trafficking he brought around fifteen girls from NEPAL who every evening are taken to work as sex workers around Kampala under the disguise of being workers at the Sauna. The place is not for the intended purpose but for men to promote indecent and illegal acts against public policy’’.

‘’The coerced Nepalese girls are every evening transported in a TOYOTA ALPHARD UBP from Kisugu near Kisugu Police Station from a black gated house where the suspect keeps them to the Sauna facility for alleged sexual exploitation by loaded men around Kampala which act I believe is contrary to sections 125,127 and 128 of the penal code Act cap 128 of Uganda’’, adds the petitioner.

Under the laws of Uganda any immigrant has to acquire a license to operate any business in Uganda and failure to do so constitutes an offense, such acts create a bad image for Uganda and promote immorality.

‘’I make this report in good faith and in the public interest. I believe the actions described constitute an offense under the Human Trafficking Act and Money laundering Act and penal code Act of Uganda and I am reporting pursuant to my duty as a citizen’’, noted the whistleblower.

Trafficking in persons is a grave violation of human rights that continues to affect millions globally. Among the rising concerns is the growing number of child trafficking victims with a significant increase in the proportion of girls affected–rising from 31 per cent to 38 per cent and sexual exploitation remains a significant issue.
