The AYA Group has driven Uganda’s socio-economic transformation through industrialization, hospitality landmarks, job creation, and logistics networks.
Founded by businessman Mohammed Hamid, the multi-million-dollar conglomerate has historically integrated key supply chains within East Africa.
Primarily through massive employment generation, agro-processing industrialization, and structural real estate investments, the fast-growing conglomerate is one of the country's most vital economic contributors.
The group operates across Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with international subsidiaries in Dubai and New York City.
Apart from AYA Investments U Ltd which owns Pearl of Africa Hotel (or Win 5 Hotel & Spa) Hamid, through his AYA Group, is associated with several other investments, and in 2015, made it to Forbes’ list as the second richest African man under 40. Aya Bakery Limited, Aya Biscuits Limited, and Aya Foundation Limited, a charity helping children in need of expensive health care.
Through its subsidiaries like Aya Mills, Aya Bakery, and Aya Biscuits, the group heavily built up Uganda's local food manufacturing capability. They transformed the local wheat flour and confectionery markets by processing goods domestically rather than relying solely on foreign imports.
Through the Aya Foundation Limited, the group operates a dedicated charity wing. This foundation actively helps vulnerable Ugandan children access expensive, specialized healthcare services.
Others are Aya Mills Limited, Fifi Transport Limited which owns a fleet of cargo trucks, Pan Afric Commodities Limited which trades in produce, and Aya Mining Limited. He also owns Aya Mohammed Trade Plc in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Aya Property Developers Inc in New York, USA.
