Why NRM's Koboyi will Replace NUP Chief whip Nambeshe as Manjiya Constituency MP in 2026




 
Stakeholders in Manjiya Constituency have vowed to back Matsyetsye Emmanuel Koboyi, an ardent NRM and PLU mobiliser who has won the hearts of voters due to his capability in transforming communities.
 

Koboyi , a former President at Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) , is the owner of Mbale Tigers, who worked with Uganda National Students Association (UNSA) Secretariat. He is a founder member of Hunger project in Uganda where he was the chairman Youth Ending Hunger, which has been working in Uganda since 1999 in empowering community partners to end their own hunger and poverty.

 

Koboyi contested for Manjiya twice in 2001 and 2006. He also attempted a bye election in Mbale Municipality 2009, EALA in 2017, and as Chairman LCV Bududa district 2021. Following various endorsements however , stakeholders are backing his Manjiya constituency bid come 2026 on NRM ticket to replace John Baptist Nambeshe.

 

Koboyi who is a senior loyal NRM cadre, Mobilizer counted Elgon 13 bush war veteran in the region hails from Manjiya Constituency in Bududa district. He is one of the contending politicians determined to oust Nambeshe whom he claims was his student, campaigned for him for LCIII Bududa Town council, chairman LCV Bududa District and as MP Manjiya Constituency.

‘’However he chose to become NUP and disappointed most NRM supporters who had trusted him all along’’, says Koboyi.

 

Matsyetsye marries a senior history geography teacher who is now on contract at kyambogo College school and rated as one of the best history teachers in Uganda.

 

He was born to the late 5th Bishop Israel Wanambisi Koboyi and Canon Joyce Wolayo Koboyi who was laid to rest recently. Koboyi is a reknowned senior cadre, mobilizer and historian of the NRM and among the first UPM members in 1980.

 

He has extensive community work for children in sports with Mbale Tigers Table. He has served in various capacities at the Tennis Club and as former UTTA President, vice President and General Secretary, Youth with Youth Ending Hunger Uganda Chapter and was Secretary for youth of local councils II , III, IV. He was the first Youth delegate to the first national youth delegates conference in Kyambogo and first Youth Work camp in Apach, who worked with students as a student leader Kampala students council .He later worked at UNSA secretariat based at crested towers and many community initiatives including Mbale Tigers table tennis club rated as one of the best in Africa where he secured funding for ten years 2003-2013 . The club recently, with amazing results, celebrated 30 years of impactful development.

He started a community technical school building which is now housing Christ nursery and primary school but has been in existence since 1998. Other initiatives under Women plus Africa include conducting a women cancer screening in Bududa district, physical fitness programs in kampala and hosted Kukuwa fitness gurus in Uganda.

 

Koboyi solicited bursaries for students at St. Peter's University in Luwero and at Kanyanya branch in kampala.

Most important he has an impeccable record since 1994 on strategic mobilization teams under statehouse teams, Kampala team under Rwabogo in Rubirizi under Kazibwe, in Teso under Kamuntu Geoffrey in Bugisu sub region under Gen. Tumukunde and in Eastern region under Hon. Dr. Robert Mwesigwa MP central Mbarara central who took over from Basaja Balababa as chairman NRM entrepreneurs league.

He has pledged revolutionary leadership for Manjiya County as a legislator to influence modernized cultural tourism, improved banking services, agro industrialization, value addition to bananas for banana wine, bread, flour, crisps and a wide range of banana by-products including fertilizers, furniture boards and pharmaceuticals.

Other initiates he intends to improve include Timber, bamboo value added products, expanding education services from supporting skilling initiatives by government to private sector initiatives with working tools from development partners, improved and expanded health services by government and non government organizations, improve and modernize sports studies, education and organization of sports events, explore the mining sector and be activated and streamlined, always be at Parliament to perform my legislative duties without fail and mainly bridge the legislative gaps that will be identified at national level affecting Manjiya Constituency.

He has also vowed to unite constituents, support their socioeconomic initiatives, identify main challenges at sub county level for immediate attention for ministry of local government to pay attention and attend to them, support marginalized groups especially persons living with disability, youth, women, orphans, elderly persons and children from legislative to policy and implementation level.

He has over the years received many awards including Tumaini Awards , UNHabitat ( Masharik award), IOC Scholarship award 2017/2018 for a Master of science degree in sports studies, education and organization of events.
